Clear Billing, Smarter Cooling
Understanding your NEP electric bill, line by line
We know utility bills are not always the easiest thing to interpret. That’s why we want to make it simple to understand exactly what your NEP bill includes.
Each NEP statement is broken into three main sections:
Your Account Summary
This section shows your previous balance, any payments received, and your current balance due. It gives you a snapshot of where your account stands at a glance.Current Charges
Breakdown of your electric and/or water usage based on individual meter readings. May also include service fees or common area usage, depending on how your property is set up.Bill Details
Shows the data behind your charges—exact usage for the billing period, number of days in the cycle, and how charges were calculated.
NEP uses advanced smart metering technology to ensure you’re only billed for what your household actually uses. And remember, we don’t mark up the electricity you use. Your usage charges are tied to the local utility’s standard service rates.

Summer Cooling and Conservation Tips
As warmer days return and summer quickly approaches, now is a great time to prepare for seasonal changes in your electricity bill.
The majority of electricity used in apartments and condos typically goes toward cooling. In fact, nearly half of your energy consumption each year may come from running your HVAC system. When outdoor temperatures climb, your A/C has to work harder to keep your space comfortable. That increased workload results in higher energy consumption, which can mean a higher electricity bill during the summer months.
The U.S. Department of Energy recommends setting your thermostat to 78°F when you are home to strike a balance between comfort and efficiency. While that may feel warmer than you are used to, pairing it with fans, breathable fabrics, and smart cooling habits can help you stay comfortable while keeping your energy costs under control.
